To create an infographic about a topic that was important to the designer.
The goal was to create an infographic narrative. Start by choosing a media-related trend, current affairs topic.
Infographic Poster
Research
During this beginning part of the process was to state the kind of infographic that was to be created and explain the strategy and goals for the project. It was to include a take-away message, your target audience, and why your approach is appropriate for that audience.
Like most people, they start their day with a hot cup of coffee. So while sitting at my computer with the second cup of the day, I think what would be a good topic for this project. With the thought train going, I keep looking at the cup of coffee, wondering what all are the benefits of this magical drink and how much people drink it.
This data can be shown in an 11 x 17 poster starting with the title saying, “Coffee: The Key to Survival.” With that people are able to understand coffee is used for so many things and there are health benefits from drinking it also.
After much research on different layouts and the illustrations that were used to show the information that was gathered as key points of why coffee had health benefits, hit the drawing board.
Sketches
For the color pallet, I wanted something that spoke COFFEE. Having the bold red and almost black with a brown tent to it for the font pulled the theme all together to show the benefits of the topic.

Typeface
With this project, wanted to go with a font that was not going to make the poster look jittery. Bouncing around ideas of fonts that spoke coffee, decided to go with a sans-serif font that would not overpower the illustrations being shown.
Helvetica Regular (Headers/Body)
Digital Process 1
Through the process, before settling on a font for the body text when with something that had that jittery feel, but later realized that this was not the direction to go. None of the illustrations at this time showcased the information to the fullest and the coffee stain rings seemed too overpowering with the design direction.
Digital Process 2
Rearranging and redesigning the illustrations was the next step in this process. Though, the coffee stain effect was still there playing with the opacity to add that feel. After, changing the illustrations to show the key points to a better degree as part of this also.
Final Design
Going a completely different direction, changed the background to white, to not overpower the work. Through that rearranged the illustrations more.
I changed the colors from a more natural color palette to a bolder color chosen to show how coffee has a bold, upbeat feel. When some of the illustrations were changed to show the information to a better degree.
From there added some more STATS where they were lacking in some areas. Removed the essential nutrients from a table to a list. Bolded the illustrations to make it easier to see what they were represented within the design itself.
